About Poly Lumber
Poly Lumber is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic derived from post-consumer waste such as milk jugs and plastic packaging that would otherwise end up in a landfill. This material is then cleaned in a decontamination process to a high purity level. This purified recycled plastic is formulated with Ultra-Violet (UV) stabilizers and color pigments, and then formed into various shapes and profiles used to create environmentally friendly, maintenance-free pieces of furniture that will not fade. Available in a selection of beautiful fade-resistant colors, Poly Lumber furniture has a wood-like grain and look. Incredibly strong and durable, Poly Lumber is solid plastic all the way through with no wood fillers.

I have had several wood Adirondack chairs and have had enough of refinishing them and wathcing them rot anyway after a few years. The recycled plastic is comfortable and durable and we love the colors. Overall I am very hapy with them- but I've only had them for one weekend so far.
My only quibble with these chairs is the large screw used to secure the rear end of each arm to the seat back. The instructions stated both a drill but and a hand tool fitting the unusual slot pattern were included, but all three chairs had just the drill bit and not the hand tool. It is impossible to line up a power drill with the screw head because the curved seat back is in the way, and the screws are long and large and require a lot of force to drive into the seat arms. As a result this cannot be done with a power tool- you will end up stripping the slots no matter how careful you try to be. Since the hand tool was not included and Allen wrenches don't really work either, I had to use a vise grip to slowly turn the screw by its head to drive it the rest of the way on all three chairs. This took me a good hour and some sore wrists. On one of my three chairs the arms could not be made flush with the seat back because the end slats were not flush (on the premanufactured back) so a small amount of screw is visible in the gaps between back and arms. I think this is just s poor aspect of the design and that even though the screws lok pretty substantial I don't like that they are the only thing attaching the rear of the arms to the chair- one screw on each side. It would have made more sense to have a small support under the arm as part of the arm design that would sit flush on the seat back and take two additional screws on each side.
