About Fir Wood
Fir has characteristics very similar to Cedar. Well known for its combination of stability and light weight, it is commonly used in furniture, both here and abroad. While being naturally weather-resistant, it may be further stained or finished to endure and age gracefully for many years. If left unfinished, the wood will fade to a silver gray when used outdoors. Like Cedar, the grain is usually straight and displays prominent growth rings and knots.

These are lightweight chairs and a bargain for the money. I shopped all over before purchasing. They really smelled good when we unpacked them (like a cedar smell). I suggest that you paint them before use as they are unfinished. I am also going to use carpenters glue as I assemble to give them more strength and they will then hold up longer since we are then going to have a friend paint murals on them with parrots and palm trees. Can't wait to see the finished products. Very pleased with purchase ! !

Hayneedle was flawless in the processing of our order and our chairs arrived within a week. We chose unfinished chairs so that we could customize the color. Assembly was simple and it took no more than 20 minutes to assemble each chair. The chairs are attractive but we do have concerns over the apparent strength of the wood. You can hear the wood creak under stress as you get into or out of the seat. We are hoping that is just the chair breaking in and not breaking. Being that I weigh under 200 pounds, it comes as a shock that the chairs would not support my weight. Other than that we are happy with the comfort and appearance of the chairs.

I'm painting mine fire engine red and adding coordinating pillows, although I'll only use them for decorative purposes...the chairs are actually really comfortable without them!

shipping was quick, but poor quality product that didn't fit the pre drilled holes very well and is therefore wobbley and not sturdy. wood was dirty and stained.

This product is everything the ad promised it to be. Only time will tell if the wood will hold up for years. I painted it with an oil based paint and will give it a coat of water seal after the original paint has cured. Winter storage is a must because of the harsh weather. TLC never hurts. They look great on the deck. I'll enjoy many hours lounging and reading this summer.

Use on a patio year round. It was great to be able to select the finished look ourselves. Took a few minutes to assemble but the directions were clear and precise.
We have not found anything that is not great about our chair.
