It is constructed of red shorea (red lauan) hardwood that originates mainly from tropical lowland rainforest trees, giving you a table with a look that you won't find just anywhere. About Shorea Wood and Linseed Oil
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea (red lauan) wood will have variations is color - from a red to a yellow cast.
The Shorea wood for this item is treated with linseed oil. Linseed oil is not a varnish. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood leaving a shiny (not glossy) surface that shows off the grain of the wood. Linseed oil helps protects the wood from denting by compression and from accelerated deterioration.
After assembly simply wipe the bench with a damp cloth to remove any excess oil that may be remaining. Please note that it is recommended to let your bench sit outside for 2-3 days before sitting on it to let the stain air out and completely dry.

I bought this side table to put on my new patio with a similar bench and adirondack chairs. It was very easy to assemble and went together in about 10 minutes. It goes well with two new luan adirondack chairs and bench that I bought on-line too. The table is good quality, heavy wood, and well made for easy assembly. I would definitely buy another.

I like this design much better than any of the others offered by this site. Unfortunately Lauan is by no means my first choice wood, but that's all it's available in. It's highly inconsistent in color and finish from piece to piece (I bought four of them). The tables come pre-assembled so that all you need to do is bolt on the legs. I highly recommend using glue as they crack easily, even from hand-tightening. Also, be sure to seal them with something so that the color doesn't bleed and damage your deck or patio when they get wet. If I had it to do over again I'd buy one for a pattern and then make the rest myself out of better quality wood. They're inexpensive and convenient but unfortunately cheaply made too... sigh.

There was no tool enclosed to attach the legs. I have a very well stocked garage and lucked out that a specialized Allen Wench to found to secure the legs.

Not only was this table extremely easy to assemble (just screw in the legs), but its extremely strong with some nice weight to it. Given the price, I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
