Description

Crafted from western red cedar, the English Garden Bench is strong and sturdy. An excellent wood for outdoor furniture, red cedar is naturally aromatic and insect-repellant. The vertical back slats are spaced closely together to make this a very comfortable piece of garden furniture.

 

The top back slat of this bench is approximately 2.75 inches, and is ideal for a 2.00 - 2.25 inch plaque to personalize the bench.


Quality Red Cedar Wood

These hand-made cedar furniture pieces are crafted from natural, Western Red Cedar using galvanized hardware and no corrosion-causing staples or screws. Cedar is a naturally durable wood, capable of being stained or painted in any color. The natural scent of cedar repels insects, moths and other pests. Cedars natural preservatives also make it rot and decay resistant. If cedar is left untreated, it will eventually develop a rustic, warm gray tone. And of course, the classic cedar scent is unmistakable and present in all our cedar pieces.

We bought two of these benches at the same time. One is for us, and the other is for a memorial to my father-in-law at the golf course where he lived. The first one went together perfectly but we were being careful so it took maybe thirty minutes from box to finished bench with two people. The second one we timed. It took twelve minutes from box to bench. The wood is gorgeous, but before we use either of them, they need some very light sanding here and there and a light coat of wood oil. The seem sturdy, but time will tell on the durability. Very happy with the purchases for now.

Loved the look and feel, but had it explode when my sons friends sat on it. (They were maybe just over the 400 pounds) The up side, because the joints were not glued, very little broke and I was able to re-glue and screw it back together. This allowed me to insure it's tight and use brass hardware.

          This was SO EASY to assemble! I can't understand why I saw reviews stating they had problems. It comes in four pre-assembled sections - I was expecting to assemble all - like that of a puzzle. Originally, I'd purchased this bench to place in a flower bed/garden, but love it so much I am keeping it on my deck where it will get more use... very comfortable.
