Description

The Keene Rustic Cedar Old Adirondack Chair is a wonderful, rustic addition to any home. Made of durable white cedar (the traditional wood for Adirondacks), it offers charm along with usability. Cedar is naturally resistant to decay and insect damage. Its old-time look adds a sense of grace and history to your living room, porch, or patio. You can stain or paint the chair to your desired color, or let it naturally weather to a silvery gray. And you will appreciate the craftsmanship of this chair, too. Built by hand, this chair uses mortise-and-tenon joinery techniques and is constructed in the USA in small batches. The cedar is collected from nearby swampy marshes and milled on site.
Ships partially assembled. Approximately 30 minutes assembly time.

About Old Adirondack Furniture
The Old Adirondack Furniture Company traces its beginning to Flat Rock Camp, one of the Great Camps of the Adirondack Park in operation around 1880-1929. Prominent industrialists and their families would retreat to these cool, northern camps to escape from the summer heat of New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston. A foreman at Flat Rock Camp took the opportunity in the off-season to reproduce and refine the original Adirondack chair, which became the basis for a furniture operation crafting rustic wood furniture.

From this small beginning, the furniture operation outgrew Flat Rock Camp and moved to the Grange Building in Willsboro, then to a vacant horse nail factory in Keeseville, N.Y. Today, Old Adirondack operates a modern 25,000-square-foot production facility not far from that factory near its Willsboro roots. Despite the company's expansion and development, Old Adirondack furniture still carries the mark of reliable American quality and authentic Adirondack style.

- Natural, untreated
- Cedar absorbs and loses moisture slowly minimizing dry cracking, splintering, and swelling
- Shipped in natural color (pale tan or light gold) which changes over time to a silver gray (appoximately one year)
- Furniture includes a durable zinc coated and stainless steel hardware. That is, minor assembly is required (10-15 minutes) - Water-based stains, oil stains, or latex paint coats can be used to finish this wood and slow the aging process

Comments about Keene Rustic Cedar Old Adirondack Chair:

I love this chair not only for the look, but because it fits in our small room. It was the only rocking chair I could find that was shorter and narrower than the rest. I also loved that it was unfinished, so I can decide what final look I want to give it.

The only flaw I noticed was that one of the wood panels underneath the seat was frayed. Not a huge deal, and kind of adds to the rustic look, but worth mentioning nonetheless.
