The slightly coarser structure of Red Lauan will age beautifully, imparting an element of rustic charm in any setting. As far as end tables are concerned, the Richmond Side Table is both a beautiful and quality choice. It is constructed of Lauan hardwood that originates mainly from tropical lowland rainforest trees, giving you a table with a look that you won't find just anywhere. The slat style top is framed by wide pieces of wood for a smart, tailored design. You'll find this table so handy, you'll wonder how you got along without it.
Please note that it is recommended to let your Adirondack chairs sit outside for 2-3 days before sitting on them to let the stain air out and completely dry.
About Shorea Wood and Linseed Oil
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea (red lauan) wood will have variations is color - from a red to a yellow cast.
The Shorea wood for this item is treated with linseed oil. Linseed oil is not a varnish. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood leaving a shiny (not glossy) surface that shows off the grain of the wood. Linseed oil helps protects the wood from denting by compression and from accelerated deterioration.

These chairs were easy to put together (about 30 mins each) and are really comfortable. As mentioned in some other reviews, the stain is not applied evenly, so some of the areas are darker and some lighter, but the look does not bother me at all. I personally think it gives them some character. The wood is good quality (red shorea wood) and is a good type of wood for adirondack chairs (google it). I have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend these chairs.
